Eric and I toured the
west of Canada in august/september
of 2001. We spent about two weeks camping and
hiking in the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks of
Banff,
Jasper,
Yoho, and
Kootenay. We did not
visit Mount Revelstoke & Glacier.
Apart from the Rockies, we also spent time on
Vancouver Island,
and in Calgary,
Vancouver, and the
Kootenays and Okanagan
regions.

One of the best ways to get a good look at all
of Vancouver is by taking a trip up to the Lookout
at the top of the Harbour Centre Tower. Your
ticket is valid all day, so make sure you
return around sunset, to see Vancouver by night!
This tower is found close to the Harbour, where
luxury cruise ships from all over the
world make a quick stop. The photograph below
shows the Harbour, with a cruise ship, from
the Tower.

We had great weather in Vancouver, and spent
most of the time walking up and down the streets,
getting a good look at the city. One of the
areas that's definitely worth a visit is
Chinatown. As I looked at the crates of live
crabs and heard Chinese all around me, I could
easily have forgotten I was in Canada!

If you're tired of walking around, take the
aquabus! It's a small boat that takes you to a
number of stops along the south of Vancouver's
downtown. Very relaxing! One of the aquabus
stops is at Granville Island, which has a huge
produce market.
